Band Camp 2022

End of summer means returning to school (or starting at a new school) and in the Band world that can mean only one thing . . . Band Camp 2022!

Be sure to register here: Google Form

Band Camp is a great way to play fun music, get excited for the new year, and make a bunch of new friends. We have a busy year and we have a lot of ground to cover. Make sure you come prepared to work harder than you ever expected, and bring a positive attitude. We will spend time outside, so bring sunscreen and water, wear light clothing, and eat a good breakfast. We will plan food breaks into the daily schedule so make sure you bring/arrange something to eat every day.

Band Camp schedule runs from Monday August 8th to Friday August 12th: 8am to 3pm. There will also be a band camp performance on Friday the 12th at 6PM. During camp we will learn marching techniques, read new pep band music, learn band cheers, and play games and do activities for fun! Imagine a week spent just playing and learning new things, and making a bunch of new friends. That's what band camp is about!

Please register on this Google Form with Student and Parent name, contact information, and instrument choice. We have been short low brass and we need Trombones, Baritones, and Tubas! If you can play any of these, you will help the band immensely in the stands and on the field; building a strong foundation for the other band members to play along with.

See you at camp! - Mr. Roberts

FAQs

Who can attend Band Camp?

Band Camp is open for ALL BAND STUDENTS enrolled in a Band Class (Jazz/Wind Ensemble/Symphonic) at Will C. Wood HS.

Is Band Camp required to be in Band? Is Marching Band required?

Participation in Marching Band is not required to be in Band, however Band Camp IS required IF you want to be in Marching Band. Our first home football game is August 19th (2nd day of school), and we need to be ready!

Really, required? But we have vacation plans!

We understand that each family has their own plans for vacation. We ask that if you and your student value participation in Marching Band that Band Camp become a priority to attend.

. . . Really?

Yes. Band Camp teaches valuable fundamental skills that will be require mastery before performance. Band Camp also sets the tone for teamwork, morale, and unity. The experience of Band Camp cannot be replicated and is unique for each class of student leaders.

If your student cannot attend for a legitimate reason and you would like to speak with Mr. Roberts about it, please contact him at [email protected]
