Welcome to the CTE Medical Science program! This course was designed as a two-year program to prepare students for the medical field and care for patients of all ages with a variety of medical conditions and traumatic injuries.
The principles covered throughout the course are universal to the foundation of medicine. In Med Sci 1, we will cover a range of topics and skills including, but not limited to medical career exploration, medical terminology, introduction to the human body, patient assessment, body systems, orthopedics, phlebotomy, and pharmacology.
This course is recommended for any student interested in therapeutic services (dentist, EMT, MD, veterinarian, etc.), diagnostic services (NP, CLT, PT), health informatics (MA, health IT, epidemiologist), support services, and biotechnology research and development (biochemist, pharmacologist, microbiologist, toxicologist).
Completers of the Career Technical Education (CTE) program typically have more experience and are more likely to be hired and accepted to programs post-high school than other students. Students take at least two courses in the pathway and graduate with a CTE distinction and gain a valuable advantage.
Special note, Med Sci 2 is coming in the Fall of 2023 with the course requirement of the successful completion of Med Sci 1.
