Behavior and Eligibility

At Will C. Wood we use a merit/demerit plan to determine behavior-based eligibility for athletics and student activities. For each discipline infraction, a student will be assigned demerits based on the severity of the infraction. At 15 demerits during the fall semester and 20 demerits during the spring, students will be disqualified from participation in all extracurricular activities, including all dances, rallies, athletics, clubs etc.

Parent/Student Notification

Ineligibility reports are run at each grading period. Students who are ineligible are notified through ParentSquare, along with a notification to their listed guardian.

Earning Merits and Community Service

There are opportunities available to students who are ineligible to participate in Wildcat activities due to earned demerits to earn merits. Please make an appointment with the designated Assistant Principal for your student's last name to discuss this option for earning merits.

ACTIVITIES AND DEMERITS

Eligibility for any extracurricular activity at Will C. Wood is contingent on remaining below the Demerit cap AND at an attendance rate of at least 85%. For the Fall Semester the cap is 15 Demerits and for the Spring Semester the cap is 20 Demerits. . Additionally, students who earn Misbehavior Letters will be added to the Demerits report if they fall below the cut off.
